Transport & logistics

What stays scarce when transport drives itself.

Once trucks and ships drive themselves on electric power, moving goods becomes a commodity anyone can buy. What stays scarce is the terminal, hub or warehouse where sea, rail, barge, road and last mile meet, and the customers whose flows run through it.

Transport & logistics in numbers

15,498

requests from businesses are waiting for a new or heavier connection to draw power from a Dutch regional grid operator, mid-2026.¹

Electric fleets and automated warehouses need power. A site with a grid connection is becoming one of the scarcest things you can own.

+5.5%

rise in driver wage costs in Dutch road freight in 2025.

Against 3.6–5.0% for total costs excluding fuel; +6.1% expected for 2026.²

The driver is a fast-rising cost in moving goods. Self-driving takes out exactly that part.

48.7%

of Dutch land transport firms (5+ staff) name a shortage of staff as an obstacle. July 2026.

Against 32.8% of all businesses surveyed.³

Drivers are the scarcest part of moving goods today. Self-driving fleets will make the moving cheap, so the value moves to the hub and the customer.

What's changing

Electric, self-driving trucks and vessels are coming, and planning runs on AI. That makes moving goods cheaper for everyone. The value moves to the places where flows meet and the customers who route through them.

Where firms win

They hold the terminal, hub or warehouse that sea, rail, barge, road and last mile have to pass through. They buy capacity at the lowest price and keep improving how their sites run.

Atlas with Kodiak, driverless trucks at its own hub

Atlas owns a 42-mile sand conveyor in the Permian and runs driverless trucks from its load-out points. By March 31, 2026, its 28 driverless trucks had carried about 7,000 loads and more than 450,000 tons of sand. Atlas plans to grow the fleet to 100 trucks by mid-2027. The firm that owns the node put self-driving trucks on top of it. The moving became cheap; the node stayed theirs.⁴

How we help

We work with leadership on the choices that get the firm there: which sites and flows to build around, which customers to grow with, and what to stop doing. Then we build the AI into how the firm plans and runs, and keep improving it.

  1. What would your firm look like if every truck and vessel drove itself, and it still kept its margin?

Growth Into the Netherlands

The Netherlands is where many European flows enter and leave. We find out where a newcomer's business fits in those flows, then help make the set of choices that gets it into the right place first.

How could your terminals, hubs or warehouses grow into the place flows have to pass through?

AI

In transport and logistics, AI decides how well a network runs. We build it into how your firm plans routes, docks and stock, so your people handle the exceptions and the customers. Each time the frontier moves, we move the firm with it.
